A Low Pressure Receiver (LPR) available in sizes of 36inch , 42 inch , 48 inch onwards , is an essential component in large industrial refrigeration systems, designed to store and supply low-pressure liquid refrigerant to evaporators. It is located on the lowside of the refrigeration cycle, typically after the expansion valve and before the evaporators. The LPR ensures stable refrigerant flow, efficient vaporliquid separation, and reliable operation of flooded or overfeed evaporator systems.

Function:

1. Stores low-pressure, low-temperature liquid refrigerant.

2. Separates liquid and vapor, allowing only saturated liquid to be pumped to evaporators.

3. Ensures consistent refrigerant supply during varying load conditions.

4. Prevents liquid carryover to compressors by allowing vapor to return safely to the suction line.

Working Principle:

Refrigerant enters the LPR as a mixture of liquid and vapor after expansion. Inside the vessel, gravity separation occursvapor rises and exits to the compressor suction, while liquid settles at the bottom. This liquid is then pumped or gravity-fed to the evaporators, ensuring efficient heat transfer and stable system performance.
